Ross Pearson, Northwest Edison

Ross Pearson, Senior Project Developer at Northwest Edison’s Bothell office, was among the first to earn his NXT Level designation when the program debuted in 2016. “We heard about it at a regional energy efficiency training and saw the value to our business immediately,” he said. Pearson went on to complete the training as an individual and Northwest Edison additionally applied as a company to achieve their designation listing.

For over 25 years, Northwest Edison has provided lighting solutions for commercial and industrial projects throughout the Western United States. They have strong relationships with a number of ESCO partners and concentrate primarily on work for municipalities, public universities and school systems, hospitals, military, heavy industrial, and property management companies.

Pearson says the NXT Level testing format is well-designed. “The training leads you through the material before you get to the test questions. And the questions were challenging—even with years of experience in the field, it required reading and more in-depth learning to answer the questions correctly and move on to the next lesson. The design of the learning process is very effective,” he continued.

NXT Level is an obvious fit with Northwest Edison’s commitment to ongoing education. “We consistently look to keep apprised of new products, technology and industry changes/direction. To accomplish this, we engage in discussion with manufacturers and reps as well as put high value on the regional in-person workshops and trainings offered by utilities. Together, the online and in-person trainings expose us to more ideas and opportunities, which has led to more jobs being secured by our company.”
